Author: Janice Thompson

Series: Brides with Style #1

Pages: 368

ISBN: 978-0-8007-2399-6

Genre: FICT, Contemporary Romance

Short Book Description:

Somewhere in a sea of tulle and taffeta, satin and crepe, Katie Fisher needs to find a key ingredient of the perfect wedding–the groom.

Small-town girl Katie Fisher is busy planning her fairy-tale wedding. Sure, her boyfriend hasn’t managed to pop the question just yet, but that doesn’t mean she shouldn’t enter a contest in Texas Bride magazine to win the dress of her dreams, right? Anyway, she’s sure he’ll be getting down on one knee any time now. And a one-of-a-kind designer dress doesn’t just fall out of the sky right when you need it.

But when Katie’s boyfriend takes a job in another town and breaks up with her–on the very same day she wins her dream dress–her world is turned upside down. Dare she go to Dallas to claim her prize? And will the hunky pro basketball player who runs the beyond-swanky bridal shop–yeah, you read that right–discover her humiliating secret if she does?

My Thoughts:

It took me a bit to get into the book but, once I sat down and got serious about it I couldn’t put it down for anything. I finished it within an afternoon. The writing and flow of the story was so easy to get into that I got lost in the world of books and couldn’t believe that I was actually done the book. I kept turning the pages looking for just a tad bit more to the story.

A really humorous and fun read, I couldn’t help but laugh my way through it. Katie and Brady have to be my favorite characters, not because they were the main characters but because of their huge faith in God. Not that the others didn’t have faith in God, it’s just these two were such an inspiration for fictional people.

I have read a few other books by Janice Thompson and have enjoyed every single one of them. I can’t wait to get more of, if not all of them, her books.

The perfect balance between humor, romance, and a walk with God, I would recommend these books to anyone. I can’t wait for the second book in the series to come out so that I can continue with the story of Katie Fisher.

Series: Weddings by Design #4

Pages: 352

ISBN: 978-0-8007-2155-8

Genre: FICT, Contemporary Romance

Short Book Description:

She didn’t expect to fall in love–but roses aren’t the only thing blooming on Galveston Island

Cassia Pappas has found herself in a nearly impossible situation. She wants to spend her time immersed in her new job at a Galveston Island floral shop, arranging blooms and brightening occasions with her lovely creations. But her boisterous Greek family–especially her father–has other ideas. They’ve all relocated to Galveston to open up a new family restaurant located on the Strand–directly across the street from iconic pizza place Parma John’s–and they want Cassia’s full participation.

To make matters worse, as Cassia is trying to develop a strong professional relationship with Galveston’s premier wedding coordinator, Bella Neeley, her own father is intent on stealing all of the Rossi family’s faithful customers. Not exactly the best way to get into this former Rossi’s good graces!

Still, at least Alex, that hot delivery guy from the nursery, is always hanging around the flower shop . . .

My Thoughts:

This book was hilarious. I couldn’t put it down and finished it within one afternoon. The author has a way of writing that keeps the reader captivated and in stitches from laughter.

I had read the first book in the series when it came out and couldn’t wait to get my hand on the rest of the books as they came out. I have to read books 2 and 3 yet. But what I liked is that even though I hadn’t read the middle of the series, this book still made perfect sense.

Cassia was a character I fell in love with because I saw a lot of myself in her. Her position at home and with work was very relatable especially being the oldest child/daughter.

I can’t wait to read more of this authors’ books as they are extremely well written and thought out.

Title: Picture Perfect

Pages: 336

ISBN: 978-0-8007-2152-7

Genre: FICT, Contemporary Romance

Short Book Description:

She’s trying to focus on her future. How can one man make everything feel so . . . fuzzy?

Hannah McDermott has a successful photography studio. She’ll soon be featured in Texas Bride magazine. And she has a celebrity client whose Galveston ceremony will be her ticket to the top spot on wedding coordinator Bella Neeley’s list of recommended photographers. But it could all come crashing down around her because of one man: archrival and photographer extraordinaire Drew Kincaid.

As the competition between Hannah and Drew heats up, Hannah is surprised to find that it’s not the only thing getting more intense. She can’t get the handsome man out of her thoughts—or even out of her line of sight—and the job of her dreams is turning into a nightmare. Will everything she’s worked for slip out of her hands? And can she see past her pride to find a picture-perfect love?

With contagious humor and a cast of quirky characters, Janice Thompson gives you crazy bridal-business drama, sweet romance, and a satisfying dose of laughter.

My Thoughts:

This book was filled with lots of humorous moments. The characters were portrayed in a fun-loving God-fearing manner, but not in a preacher sort of way. The scripture was only mentioned a few times and the characters only went to church once or twice.

I really liked that it is based on a more day-to-day life then a book that is just based around continually reading scripture and church-going.

Hannah was a really easy person to love and who doesn’t like it when a gorgeous man is described in a book? My favorite characters have to be Hannah and her friend Scarlet. To have a friend like Scarlet would be amazing.

I would totally recommend this book and the books coming after in this series. They are funny, amazing, and also have a Christian based belief.
